3DuxDesign STEM Starter Challenge Cards: Quick Start Guide

WELCOME TO GLOBAL FUTURES!

THE MISSION: A COMMUNITY CENTER, REIMAGINED

Your team is about to set off on a quest to research, design, and build a model of a new community center  based on the needs of the local community, its culture, and a healthy dose of creativity.

Choose your hometown, allowing students an opportunity to learn about and become even more active members of their own community. Or your class can choose instead to take the global pathway and explore somewhere else in the world!

Low-prep, high-impact STEM challenges that are easy to run with any group of students.

This deck of 4 unique themed challenges is paired with short, bite-sized videos that walk you through each activity and share ideas to extend learning.

  • Quick + low-prep: Each challenge can be done in one class period, minimal setup

  • 4 Unique themes: Choose based on materials, age group, and teaching goals

  • Low floor, high ceiling: Easy to start with room to level up

  • Adaptable for any group size + venue: from one child to a large group / in class, afterschool programs, STEM-nights and more

  • Flexible + extendable: Use as a single activity or grow into a multi-day project with cross-curricular connections in literacy, math, science, technology, and civics.
