Sample Lesson Plan Walkthrough: The Tiny House
In this lesson, students become young architects as they design, build, and refine tiny house models inspired by stories such as If I Built a House and Iggy Peck, Architect. Through reading, discussion, and hands-on construction, they connect story themes to real-world design while exploring architecture, geometry, measurement, and the engineering design process. Working in teams, students create purposeful, freestanding structures that blend imagination, problem-solving, and creativity.
Grades: K - 5
