Homes, Habitats, and Hideouts

In this fun, hands-on team-builder for grades 2–5, students explore local habitats and engineer shelters to survive real-world conditions. Assign one region per team for a full-class adventure or have teams tackle them all for an even bigger challenge!

Read the Challenge for each Region
Assign team a habitat and read the prompt- outlining the climate, local resources, and animals they'll need to consider.

Time to Design aShelter.
Teams sketch a home using natural materials, create a strategy to survive the weather, and plan defenses against nearby animals.

Build, Decorate, and Share!
Students build models, add creative decorations to highlight key design features, and present their hideouts to the class.
