Erin Twamley is dedicated to encouraging elementary aged kids to ask questions and be curious with her science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) publications and encounters. With STEM Superheroes™ Erin aims to captivate kids' curiosity through her workshops and book series sharing the stories, careers and superpowers of women who currently work in STEM. Reaching over 5,000 students annually, Erin is telling the stories to help kids imagine themselves, especially girls in STEM Careers. She has received children’s book awards along with her co-author Joshua Sneideman for multicultural nonfiction and middle grades nonfiction for the Everyday Superheroes book series.
Erin partnered with the 3DuxDesign team to create the STEM Careers Book-N-Build sets, now available for little superheroes at home and in school. The STEM Careers: Boon-N-Build Set provides a copy of the Everyday Superheroes: Women in STEM Careers book and 6 different design challenges inspired by real-life STEM Superheroes and their careers. From a vertical farmer to an environmental scientist, kids will truly be thinking like STEM Superheroes™ !
Erin grew up in Minnesota, on a lake. She has always been a writer, from journaling to poems and now children’s books, she finds writing a way to express herself. Erin credits her matriarchal family of educators, her love for learning and research as the catalyst for using publications to share about STEM. Erin believes that all kids, both boys and girls, need to see female role models in STEM. Erin earned her Bachelor’s in Psychology (STEM!) and Political Science and her Master’s in Education from Framingham State University.
