Mission Invention: Imagine, Design and Build an Invention for your Home
Begin this mission with a brainstorming activity. Think about your home and something that would make life easier or more fun for you or someone in your family. Think about how you would design something to perform that function.
What will it do? • Where will it go? • How will you design it? • How will you build it?
Creating an invention always takes a lot of creativity, thought and trial and error. Sometimes getting your ideas down on paper helps. Let's take some notes and draw some sketches. Print and fill out the storyboard below. You can also use some graph paper to draw out your ideas
Now use 3Dux Design products, recycled cardboard and other materials in your home to build a model of your invention. Follow the instructions to submit for a chance to win prizes. If your invention is totally awesome AND unique, you may even get a 3DuxDesign Patent.
Be sure to take time to decorate your project, photograph it with good lighting and submit a written or video description to increase your chances of winning.

Who says you can't fit a square peg in a round hole? This you man designed a square elevator with a rubber band pulley system to fit in a hexagonal building. As long as the elevator cube is small enough, it will prove that theory wrong. (The elevator was actually a bit bouncy and seemed like lots of fun to ride in)
This all-star design team from Renton Washington was studying bees and their natural habitat. Concerned by the dwindling population, they decided to design and build a shelter to help support bees and ensure their survival. Plus, they will have an endless supply of yummy honey.
Our emotion-tracker pal project is great for little kids with lots of feelings. This activity helps them put a name and face to their emotions. You can find this project and more on our lessons page
